Erase

Crumbled paper,
Confusing thoughts,

Pointless words flowing from this pen,
Marking letters in ink,
Something unerasable,
All I can do is scratch it out if I don't like it.

Yet, you can't do that in life,
You can't erase the past,
Only scribble over a memory
And even then,
It leaves a mark.

A scar within our hearts,
Patched over with a band-aid to help it heal,
Even though some scars
Will never go away

We can't erase the past,
Nor can we write the future,
All we can do, is try and make sure
We hold on.
